The following are significant aims of the TexMin Hub:
(i) Make India a leading player in CPS technologies in Exploration & Mining.
(ii) Achieve translation of CPS technologies in Exploration & Mining for socio-economic growth and commercial use, nurture start-ups, and increase the job market.
(iii) Produce next-generation technocrats for developing CPS technologies in Exploration & Mining and its implementation to make Indian mines more innovative, safe and sustainable.
The objectives of TexMin Hub are as follows:
(i) To develop CPS-based technologies & promote translational research in Exploration and Mining.
(ii) To enhance high-end researchers base, Human Resource Development (HRD) and skill-sets in the emerging areas of TexMin.
(iii) To enhance core competencies, capacity building, and training to nurture innovation and start-up ecosystem for TexMin.
(iv) To establish and strengthen the international collaborative research for cross-fertilization of ideas.
(v) To set up a world-class interdisciplinary center of excellence under TIH in Exploration & Mining.
With leading-edge knowledge, competency and facilities, the TexMin Hub will foster research innovation, world-class technology, and product development in context of Mining 4.0. TIH will work in close collaboration with the mining industry to deliver industrial technology and products and create a vibrant innovation ecosystem by providing a reliable platform for technology-based start-ups and entrepreneurs.
NM-ICPS
NM-ICPS Mission invited proposals for establishment of 6 Technology Innovation Hubs (TIHs) in 6 technology verticals through SERB online portal. The last date for receipt of the proposals was 16th December 2019.However, the Mission has decided to invite proposals for establishment of 25 Hubs that includes 18 TIHs and 7 Sectoral Application Hubs (SAHs).
Cyber-Physical System (CPS) combines digital/ cyber elements with physical objects (e.g. machines, autonomous vehicles) and data with capabilities of communication, data collection & processing, computing, decision making and action. Cyber-Physical Systems allow organizations to take timely and optimal interventions/ actions. CPS is an integrated system involving Sensors, Communication, Actuators, Control, interconnected computing networks and data analytics. Therefore, there is a need to create an integrated and overarching National platform to bring convergence among all stakeholders towards CPS technology development and effective implementations. The NM-ICPS is a comprehensive Mission aimed at complete convergence with all stakeholders by establishing strong linkages between academia, industry, Government and International Organizations. The Mission will work with all the concerned Ministries/Departments to identify their technology needs, develop solutions and technical support in CPS implementation.
TIHs will focus on generation of new knowledge through basic and applied research in areas that is mandated to them. TIHs will be the source for fundamental knowledge/ technologies that will be needed to keep India prepared for the next generation of technologies. Thus, the primary activity of TIH includes the development of new knowledge (intellectual property) and highly knowledgeable human resource with top-order skills, besides serving as a repository of papers and patents. It will also engage in International Collaborations to prepare India in its quest to be a leader in the domain. These Hubs provide the eco- system for technology development and deployment.
The objectives of these SAHs are to carryout translational research and work with Line Departments to develop prototypes, product development and implementations. SAHs will be for creating platform technologies and applications in diverse sectors like Agriculture, manufacturing, energy, health, transport, water and logistics etc. The primary activity of SAHs includes applications development for direct application in the field, development of sector specific solutions, IP generation and human resource development. Each SAHs will work with an array of TIHs to source technology tools to rapidly develop sector specific solutions/ applications as per user requirements like Line Ministries/ Departments etc.
