Dr. Lailesh Kumar
Dr. Lailesh Kumar currently serves as the Chief Technical Officer (CTO) at TEXMiN Foundation, a DST-supported Technology Innovation Hub at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad. With over a decade of global R&D experience across India and South Korea, Dr. Kumar has consistently driven innovation in advanced materials, mining, and manufacturing technologies. He has led projects in lightweight alloys, rare-earth processing, circular economy solutions, and technology translation for mining applications. At TEXMiN, he provides strategic direction for technology development, proposal evaluation, industry collaboration, and start-up incubation, particularly focusing on green mining and sustainable materials.
Before joining TEXMiN, Dr. Kumar held senior research roles at Seoul National University and IISc Bangalore., he also served as senior research scientist at R&d and Quality Division, Pinetree PosMagnesium Co. Ltd., South Korea (POSCO group), where he led product development for automotive and electronic industries. He has authored over 36 research papers, 2000 Citations, contributed to book chapters, and holds deep expertise in novel manufacturing techniques such as Twin Roll Casting, Friction Stir Welding, and Additive Manufacturing. A passionate advocate for Atmanirbhar Bharat, he champions indigenous innovation, knowledge transfer, and capacity building in the critical minerals and mining ecosystem.
